Many people already read every day in the YouVersion Bible App, with their own translation, plans and highlights. PageFirst does not change any of that. It simply keeps your social apps waiting each day until you have spent your daily goal reading in YouVersion.
How to set it up
- Install YouVersionInstall the YouVersion Bible App from the App Store if you do not have it yet, and open it once so it is ready to read.
- Choose YouVersion as your Bible appIn PageFirst, choose YouVersion when it asks for your Bible app. Only time spent in YouVersion will count toward your goal.
- Choose the apps that waitPick single apps or the whole Social category. They stay locked each day until you have read.
- Set a daily goalStart with 5 minutes, which is free. PageFirst Premium adds goals of 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes.
- Read in YouVersionTap the yellow button in PageFirst to open YouVersion and read. When you reach your goal, your apps open until tomorrow and your streak grows by one.
What PageFirst does, and does not do
- It times your reading. PageFirst uses Apple's Screen Time to measure how long YouVersion is in use, and compares that with your daily goal.
- It does not read YouVersion's content. It cannot see which book or chapter you open, your notes, highlights, plans or account.
- It counts all time in the app. PageFirst cannot tell reading from other things you do in YouVersion, so it counts every minute you spend there.
- It does not connect to YouVersion's servers. Nothing is shared with the makers of YouVersion or with anyone else. Everything stays on your iPhone.
Tips for reading with YouVersion
- Start a short plan. A plan gives you a clear next chapter each day, so you open the app and read. Our beginner reading plan works well with YouVersion too.
- Leave it on today's reading. When the app opens straight to your next chapter, the minutes go to reading instead of browsing.
- Keep the streaks you like. YouVersion and PageFirst count separately, so you can watch both.

Can PageFirst see what I read in YouVersion?
No. PageFirst only measures how long you spend in YouVersion, using Apple's Screen Time. It cannot see the text, your notes, your plans or your account in YouVersion.
