How to use PageFirst with JW Library

To use PageFirst with JW Library, choose JW Library as your Bible app in PageFirst, pick the apps that should wait and set a daily goal, starting at 5 minutes. Read in JW Library as usual, and your social apps unlock for the rest of the day once you reach the goal.

Updated

JW Library is the reading app many Jehovah's Witnesses use for daily Bible reading. PageFirst works alongside it: you keep reading in JW Library exactly as before, and your social apps stay locked each day until you have spent your daily goal there.

How to set it up

  1. Install JW LibraryInstall JW Library from the App Store if you do not have it yet, and open it once so it is ready to read.
  2. Choose JW Library as your Bible appIn PageFirst, choose JW Library when it asks for your Bible app. Only time spent in JW Library will count toward your goal.
  3. Choose the apps that waitPick single apps or the whole Social category. They stay locked each day until you have read.
  4. Set a daily goalStart with 5 minutes, which is free. PageFirst Premium adds goals of 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes.
  5. Read in JW LibraryTap the yellow button in PageFirst to open JW Library and read. When you reach your goal, your apps open until tomorrow and your streak grows by one.

What PageFirst does, and does not do

  • It times your reading. PageFirst uses Apple's Screen Time to measure how long JW Library is in use, and compares that with your daily goal.
  • It does not read JW Library's content. It cannot see which book or chapter you open, your notes, highlights, plans or account.
  • It counts all time in the app. PageFirst cannot tell reading from other things you do in JW Library, so it counts every minute you spend there.
  • It does not connect to JW Library's servers. Nothing is shared with the makers of JW Library or with anyone else. Everything stays on your iPhone.

Tips for reading with JW Library

  • Know what counts. JW Library includes the Bible and other publications. PageFirst counts all time in the app, so if your goal is Bible reading, open the Bible first.
  • Use a reading schedule. Following a schedule gives you a clear passage each day. Our guide on reading the Bible every day has tips for keeping it going.
  • Start small. A 5 minute goal is easy to keep on busy days and can grow later.

Trademark note. JW Library is a trademark of its owner, the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania. PageFirst is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by the makers of JW Library. The name is used only to describe compatibility.

Read in JW Library, then scroll
